Hover requires force. If rotors, wings, balloons and jets are rejected, field-air interaction becomes the nearest public physics family to test.

Known principle, not solved explanation

MIT demonstrated an aircraft using ionic wind: high-voltage fields ionize air, accelerate ions and transfer momentum to neutral molecules. That does not explain an advanced orb, but it proves thrust without moving parts is physically possible in air.

The Pais patent is not treated as proof of working craft. It is used only as a conceptual reference for cavity, RF/microwave, charged surfaces and plasma/sheath interfaces.
